ALS Paramedic
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.
Essential Functions
· Performs a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy, including neonatal,
paediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients and the general patient population.
· Verifies that the assigned ambulance is mechanically sound and properly equipped at the start of a shift.
· Evaluates the nature and acuity of the illness or injury.
· Ensure that all medical and non-medical equipment is maintained, checked and serviced, including the onsite
ambulance and emergency care equipment as per VMIH policies.
· Organizes patient care in a manner that contributes to the overall quality of the team.
· Communicates information pertinent to transfer of patient. (ie; admissions, ER transfer)
· Interacts professionally with staff members, physicians, and patients.
· Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
· Demonstrates the value of team concept on a consistent basis.
· Ensures that all patient files and data collection is maintained to the highest standard while ensuring
confidentiality.
· Handles inventory control of emergency drugs and disposables.
· Ensures full compliance on audits, stock control, incident and accident reporting, controlled medication
reporting and onsite continued training and development.
· Prepares and submit all weekly and monthly reports shared with onsite clinic manager.
· Ensures continuous quality management throughout the clinic.
· Complete a full and comprehensive hand over to relief paramedic after every shift.
